Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro Region anchors the northeastern corner of Tanzania, presided over by Africa's highest peak — Mount Kilimanjaro at 5,895 m. The region blends snow-capped equatorial summits with fertile lower slopes rich in arabica coffee and banana plantations. The Chagga people, renowned farmers and merchants, have cultivated this volcanic soil for centuries, creating one of East Africa's most densely settled highland landscapes. Moshi, the regional capital, serves as the gateway for over 50,000 climbers who attempt the summit each year, fuelling a thriving tourism economy. Beyond the mountain, Kilimanjaro hosts the historic Marangu town, Lake Chala — a stunning crater lake on the Kenyan border — and dozens of cultural homestay programmes that let visitors experience Chagga coffee farming first-hand.
